There is a football coach I have coached for that had a simple outlook on things. It was the K.I.S.S. principle, K.I.S.S. meaning keep it simple stupid. I was thinking about it the other day, and all too often we over complicate things in our humanity. Yes, there are things that come up that we can and do look to the Bible for answers. It is also very wise to seek out wise council. But, just as everything else in life, we tend to over complicate Christianity. Trying to keep it simple I boiled things down to a handful of verses most of us have heard, and simply try to live my life by them as often as possible. Here they are:
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
John 3:16-17
"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin and if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world."
1 John 2:1-2
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
"And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' "This is the great and foremost commandment. "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."
Matthew 22:37-40
"And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20
